Where is Homer when you Need Him?

Whatever your opinion on nuclear energy, Hinckley C is good for jobs. French energy company EDF, having signed a strategic investment agreement with The Chinese General Nuclear Power Corporation, is now pressing ahead to build the first nuclear power station in Britain for more than 20 years.

It is expected that over 25,000 jobs will be created by the power plant at Cannington, near Bridgewater, less than an hour’s drive from Bristol. Already Bristol firms such as Gleeds (a subcontractor already appointed) are forecasting dramatic increases in employment opportunities.

Interestingly, for many of the skills that the developers need there is currently no one in Britain who has had suitable training. An opportunity beckons!
