IKEA responds to proposed hide-and-seek in Bristol store

A Facebook event entitled “Hide N’ Seek In IĶÉÄ” has gone viral, with 1,400 people currently marked as “going” and 9,700 “interested”. Set up by a pair of Bristol residents, it invites participants to IKEA’s Bristol branch in the Eastgate Shopping Centre on 16 December 2017 for three-and-a-half hours of the game, from 17:30-21:00. They are instructed to “meet outside the kids daycare by the escalator”.

Amid commenters questioning whether the event is sanctioned by the store, an IKEA UK and Ireland spokesperson told Berkeley Squares:

“While we appreciate playing hide and seek in one of our stores may be appealing to some, offering a fun, relaxed and safe shopping experience for our customers is our highest priority. We would not facilitate this kind of activity taking place in any of our stores.”

Will that stop them, we wonder?
