Heathcote – 100 Days On

For our first video of the academic year, the Berkeley Squares Bite is returning with our much anticipated interview with Mr Heathcote, the new Headmaster of QEH, celebrating his first 100 days at the school. Mr Heathcote’s first term has been an unusual one to say the least. With Covid changing so much about the school atmosphere, he has had to contend with an ever-changing situation whilst not losing sight of his long-term plans.

More than being disruptive though, Covid-19 has laid bare the divide between independent and state schools, an issue which Mr Heathcote says he is keen to tackle in the future. Although ordinarily headmasters of private schools are reserved on subjects such as their role in society, Mr Heathcote spoke candidly about the challenges that their presence produces, as well as the good that can come of Private school’s positions.

This interview was filmed towards the end of November and therefore you will no doubt notice Mr Heathcote’s stunning ‘stashe from the Movember charity event that the school was involved with at the time. Movember is used in order to raise the issues of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide, showing Mr Heathcote’s drive to raise money for important charities.
